The press levied numerous questions about the circumstances leading to his seemingly miraculous debut in net. He almost seemed uncomfortable with the attention, allowing his coach to field the majority of the inquiries regarding the surprising nature of his “new” goalie’s call-up:

Long Island and Denver crashed into each other with all the malice and hatred of sports talk radio hosts. Boston overwhelmed the Nationals with its transition, execution and American muscle. Rochester upset Chesapeake with a back-up goalie who registered 27 saves on one of the hottest teams in the league.

By this time next week, spots in…

That said, when these two schools collide in any sport whether it be football, hockey, tiddlywinks and now lacrosse, excuses don’t matter.  And so begins lacrosse’s…

For most teams, if they are not currently ranked in the top 10 nationally, then their post season chances now rest on conference play and playoffs. Thus, April represents a second season of sorts, a chance for underachieving teams to prove that disappointments earlier in the season were not indicative of what their team is really made of.  And of course, what makes this time of year doubly exciting is that the pathway to redemption leads directly through…

One of the most exciting occurrences in any sports league is when the top teams get an opportunity to play head to head. This of course happens in NCAA lacrosse at the end of the season but during the season it is always exciting to see two top or near top seeds (as determined by the polls) play head to head in mid-season competition. This past weekend saw two such games and both games lived up to the hype. In the first, Johns Hopkins defeated Virginia in…

It’s the last day of the regular season for most area teams. They do say this game is quick. And we’ve got a couple of teams working to improve their playoff seeds. Hen Hud needs every win it can get, and cannot afford to let North Salem build any confidence.
